Sophie lives in an orphanage. One night when she secretly looks out the window, she sees a very tall, thin man. So big, he looks like a giant! Then he looks straight at her. He kidnaps her, because children are not allowed to know that giants really exist. 'I'll be eaten,' Sophie thinks. But the big giant turns out not to be a mean man-munching cannibal, but a Big Friendly Giant, who blows dreams into children's rooms through a trumpet.
